Aerial Yoga
A combination of traditional yoga poses, pilates and dance with the use of a hammock.
What is Aerial Yoga?
Aerial Yoga is the practice of yoga poses incorporating a soft fabric hammock. It is suspended off the ground and used as a prop to assist alignment and provide spinal decompression.
With the weight of the body partially or fully supported and the help of gravity, we can explore and create space in the body. Suspension releases compression on the joints and spine, helping achieve proper posture and alignment.
How to Prepare for Class
Do not use hand lotion, wear jewelry, belts, or clothing with grommets or anything that could snag the fabric. Avoid very baggy clothing; short sleeves are recommended. Trim nails and avoid eating heavy or acidic foods an hour before class.
Safety Notes
Not safe for: glaucoma, heart conditions, pregnancy, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, high blood pressure, vertigo, TIA, neck or spinal injury. Consult your doctor if you have medical conditions before starting aerial yoga.
